When you see braids, they’re often big and long – not exactly mid-length friendly. But there are braids for all hair lengths and types, you just have to get a little creative and maybe use a few more bobby pins than your longer haired friends. A medium-length braid is chic and cute so we’ve rounded up our favorite braids for mid-length hair.
Waterfall Braid for Medium Length Hair
The waterfall braid looks intricate and complex. But this braided hairstyle actually works well for medium-length hair and even finer hair. It is a trickier hairstyle to complete on your own but with some practice or a little help from a friend, this look is perfect for every occasion.
Boho Fishtail with Knot
A simple way to show off a cool braid with medium length hair is with a half-up do. You can make this look perfect for your summer events. Start by creating two fishtails and then completing them with a knot. Style the rest of your hair with beach waves for a complete boho-chic look.
Small Front Bang
We won’t call this a crown or halo braid because it does not wrap around the head. Rather you simply braid the front strange of your tresses – for some of us this just might be the side-swept bangs. This is a great way to wear a down-do but still keep your hair out of your eyes. Curl or straighten your hair with the rest of your locks.
Side braids don’t have to be big and voluminous. They can be simple and sweet. You might need to use some pins to keep your hair swept to the side but medium length hair makes a perfect side braid. If you have thicker hair then you can side-sweep the front of your hair and make your hair look very luscious. If it’s finer, then we recommend a center part to create that timeless braided hairstyle.
French Braid for Medium Length Hair
You don’t need hair to be as long as you might think for a French braid. A medium length cut is actually perfection for a French braid. This look can work for a wedding, night out on the town, the gym, work and everything in between!
Messy Knotted Bun with a Braid
If you want an updo that looks like you have long locks then this is the look! This intricate braided updo makes it seem like you have more hair than you know what to do with. Create two braids with the front sides of your hair and pin in the back. Then with the rest of your hair pin up a messy bun.
