With a little practice, the fishtail braid is one of the easiest hairstyles to recreate. This simple braid looks a lot more difficult than it is, making it a show-stopping hairstyles that looks like it took hours but it really only takes a few minutes. The fishtail is perfect for the office, the summer festival, date night or simply if your’e out running errands and need to keep your hair back but still show off your street-style. Here are some of our favorite half-up hairstyles with a fishtail braid.
Twisted Crown with Fishtail Braid
If you have thicker hair then you know that pulling the front back and pinning it is easier to manage and also shows off your hairs natural texture. Twist back two sections and then meet them in the middle and start the fishtail braid for a perfect boho look.
Fishtail Crown Braid
If you don’t want to twist the crown then you can easily create the crown braid with a fishtail rather than a French braid. You might need to create two separate fishtails and pin them together depending on the length and thickness of your hair.
Fishtail Braid with Hairwrap
A great way to secure your half-up hair is with the hairwrap. You simply leave an extra piece of hair loose and wrap it around the ponytail holding your ponytail in place. Complete the look with a big, loose fishtail braid and a knot tied with your hair or a clear elastic.
Partial Crown Braid
If you’re wearing your hair half-up for the day, add this fishtail braid from your crown to the nape of your neck and then let the rest of your hair flow freely. This will give your hair volume around the crown and texture throughout your tresses.
Side Fishtail Braid
If you love twisting back a front section of your hair and pinning it, try this new fishtail look. Rather than pinning your hair and letting it flow into the rest of your hair, complete the twisted part of your hair with a thin fishtail braid.
