Hair trends change as frequently as the seasons. Some times they’re dramatic and some times they’re subtle. The short hair trend is still here but from the graduated bob to the cropped pixie, the latest 2016 trend in short hair is the long flipped crop cut. Side-parts aren’t just for ladies with long locks. They’re perfect for the shorter cuts too.
This is the type of short hairstyle that allows you to show off your own personal style. It can be as edgy or as sweet as you want – all within the same day too. The cut is long on top and parted to one side. Perhaps this is the result of growing out the cropped pixie cut, but this chic new trend can work with every face shape and every hair type. Here’s some of our favorite takes on the look!
The easiest way to get your pixie “flipped” is by growing out your bangs. Keeping the hair around your head short, especially on the opposite side of your long bangs will allow the bangs to perfectly frame your face. Add some layers near the bangs to really show off your flipped part.
Opposite Side Shaved
The most popular take on this flipped cropped is to shave the side of your head that doesn’t have the flopped over hair. Although you’ll have to maintain a shaved side, it’s an edgy look with minimal maintenance. Also, depending on how long your hair is, you can cover the shaved side if you need to.
This is a happy middle between the edgy shaved cut and the asymmetrical bob. The shorter side isn’t as short as shaved, but it is much shorter than the flopped section of your hair. This cut looks even better when you add a lot of choppy layers.
The flopped pixie is gorgeous with both long and shaved sides. Which style you choose should be based on your face shape, hair texture and personal preference. However, the finishing touch is the same, a voluminous front section that is swept up and backwards. This look is perfect for round or short face shapes.
Another take on this trend is to allow your hair to fall forward (not to the side) but then style the front with side-swept bangs. The different directions create a boyish and sophisticated every day hairstyle.
